Sugar skulls represent a departed soul and are placed on the home ofrenda (offering place) or gravestone to honor the return of a particular spirit. Remembering our loved ones who have passed as well as our ancestors, offers humanity back into our minds and hearts. Sugar skulls can be joyful and celebratory.
